A Calcutta High Court division bench headed by Chief Justice Ravindra Vithalrao Ghuge set aside a single-bench order that protected Congress candidate Milan Pradhan from arrest in a 2007 case.
The court directed the state police not to take any coercive steps against Pradhan in the particular Khejuri police station case until October 12.
Pradhan was arrested on September 18 in connection with a 2007 murder case and sent to judicial custody, with the Nandigram by-election scheduled for October 6.
