China's Ministry of Commerce proposed export controls on 12 photovoltaic technologies used to manufacture solar equipment, citing national security and sensitive military applications.
The proposed restrictions would ban exports of thin wafers, perovskite and tandem solar cells, and fluidized-bed polysilicon production technologies, with public consultation open until November 15.
The move comes as India's trade deficit with China crossed $100 billion in the first nine months of 2026, with bilateral trade reaching $144.45 billion.
