Microsoft researchers have developed an AI tool that diagnoses patients sequentially, demonstrating over twice the accuracy of general physicians in solving complex medical cases.
The model uses an orchestrator to coordinate a simulated panel of clinical experts, systematically determining what patient questions to ask, exams to order, and hypotheses to update.
In collaboration with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, researchers will next test the system's triage capabilities in emergency department waiting rooms.
