IAS officer Mandeep Bhandari appointed as new CBSE chairperson

Mandeep Bhandari, a 2001-batch IAS officer from the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet issued the notification for his appointment on Friday, September 25, 2026.

Bhandari takes charge at a crucial time as the board faces ongoing controversy over the onscreen marking system for Class 12 exams and portal security concerns.
