Omani co-pilot Hamam al-Hammami plotted to kill the captain, take control of a flydubai flight, and crash it into Ben Gurion Airport or a US military base in Jordan.
Al-Hammami interfered with flight controls, switching off engines and pushing rudders forward, causing the plane to plunge 16,000 feet in less than a minute.
Injured Captain Smit Machchhar regained cockpit access with passenger help, and two off-duty pilots landed the aircraft safely in Saudi Arabia while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a security review.
