A PhD scholar from IIT Delhi died on Saturday at AIIMS after undergoing treatment for over 45 days following his discovery in an unconscious state at his rented Munirka Village accommodation on August 18.
Police registered an abetment of suicide case under section 108 of the BNS at the Kishangarh police station following Supreme Court directions and a complaint from the IIT Delhi Security Officer.
Authorities clarified that the incident did not occur inside the campus and noted that the family raised no suspicion as the student was alone, marking the third student death involving the institute this year.
