ICMR Licenses SHetA2 Pill for Cervical Cancer Precancer Treatment

The Indian Council of Medical Research licensed the investigational drug SHetA2 to Emcure Pharmaceuticals for further clinical development as a non-surgical treatment for cervical precancer.

SHetA2 is designed to selectively eliminate HPV-driven abnormal cells while preserving healthy tissue, potentially offering an alternative to surgical procedures like LEEP or cone biopsy.

The drug remains in the research phase and has not yet been approved for clinical use, requiring further trials to confirm its safety and efficacy in humans.
