The Supreme Court on Tuesday deferred hearing Babbar Khalsa terrorist Jagtar Singh Hawara's plea to transfer from Tihar jail to a Punjab prison.
An Intelligence Bureau note indicated that shifting Hawara could have a huge impact on the assembly elections in Punjab due next year.
A bench of Justices MM Sundresh and PB Varale postponed the matter until after February 2027 when the elections are expected to conclude.
