7.7 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Indonesia, Killing 20

A 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Flores Island, Indonesia, at 5:58 am local time on Saturday, resulting in at least 20 confirmed deaths.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported the epicenter was 68 kilometers north-northwest of Ende at a depth of 10 kilometers, followed by three aftershocks measuring up to 6.1 magnitude.

Approximately 2,000 residents in Nagekeo evacuated as authorities reported severe damage to houses and government facilities, while rescue teams struggle to reach areas locked by communication outages.
