THE BRIEF
1

State Congress president Jitu Patwari accused the Madhya Pradesh government of shielding the liquor mafia after visiting Dewas district, where residents alleged over 10 deaths and vision damage from spurious liquor.

2

Patwari claimed that around 22 deaths have been verified across Chandana and nearby villages since September 27, and alleged that at least 35 to 40 people suffered visual impairments from consuming alcohol.

3

The Dewas district administration denied the allegations, stating that chemical tests and post-mortems did not confirm poison, and attributed the deaths to regular illnesses and overdoses of legal liquor.
