Nigerian health officials confirmed the first detected Ebola case in the country involves the Bundibugyo strain, identified during testing of a patient.
The patient, currently suffering from multi-organ failure, has been identified as a diplomat, triggering an emergency response meeting on Wednesday.
The Bundibugyo strain is the same variant currently linked to a major outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
