A global study published in Nature Medicine involving over 6.1 million people across 118 countries found women are more likely to report pain across all 11 anatomical sites examined.
The research revealed that women experienced an 83 per cent higher relative prevalence of facial pain, 74 per cent higher headaches, and 60 per cent higher abdominal pain than men.
Female participants were also more likely to report high-intensity and widespread pain, indicating a broader disparity in pain severity and distribution.
