Williams Sisters Defeated in US Open Doubles Return

Serena and Venus Williams were eliminated in the first round of the US Open doubles tournament, losing 6-3, 6-7 (6), 7-6 [7] to Chan Hao-Ching and Maya Joint.

The three-hour match was decided by a super tiebreak, marking the second consecutive super-tiebreak loss for the sisters since reuniting their doubles partnership on the WTA Tour.

Chan and Joint, who overcame a 5-0 deficit in the final tiebreak, will advance to face unseeded Tamara Korpatsch and Nicole Fossa Huergo in the second round.
