CWMA Orders Karnataka to Release 3,500 Cusecs Daily to Tamil Nadu

The Cauvery Water Management Authority rejected Karnataka's plea to withhold water, mandating a daily release of 3,500 cusecs to Tamil Nadu starting July 29 for 15 days.

Karnataka officials reported that reservoir inflows are 65.65% below the 30-year average, while the state claims it needs to conserve 40 tmcft for drinking water until June 2027.

Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has convened an all-party meeting in Bengaluru on August 2 to discuss the authority's directive and potential legal recourse in the Supreme Court.
