Karnataka Records 18.1% Secondary School Dropout Rate

Karnataka recorded a secondary-school dropout rate of 18.1% in 2025–26, nearly double the national average of 9.5% according to UDISE+ data.

The state identified 8,344 out-of-school children aged 6 to 14 this academic year, an increase from 6,123 in the previous year.

As of December 2025, 57,724 teaching posts remained vacant in government schools, with the state approving 51,000 guest teachers to address the shortage.
