Last US and UK Troops Leave Iraq After Decade-Long Anti-IS Mission

The final batch of British and American military personnel departed Iraq, concluding a military presence of more than a decade under Operation Inherent Resolve.

The remaining UK forces exited Irbil in the Kurdistan region while US forces simultaneously departed, following an agreement signed two years ago.

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi stated that the mission's end marks Iraq's transition to assuming full responsibility for national security and stability.
