Congress Minister Threatens to Quit TVK Cabinet Over PM Pitch

Tamil Nadu Tourism Minister S. Rajesh Kumar warned on August 30, 2026, that he and Higher Education Minister Viswanathan will resign if the TVK does not support Rahul Gandhi for PM.

The ultimatum follows open efforts by TVK ministers and functionaries to project Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay as the Prime Minister candidate for the upcoming 2029 parliamentary elections.

Addressing a party meeting in Marthandam, Kumar stated that Congress ministers would immediately pull out of the cabinet if the TVK maintains its contradictory stance regarding the 2029 leadership.
