Spot gold rose 0.96% to $4,396.40 an ounce and silver climbed 2.20% to $67.080 on Wednesday as a weaker U.S. dollar boosted safe-haven demand.

The S&P 500 fell 0.5% to 7,636.36 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.8% to 52,380.66 as Brent crude prices moved back above $100 per barrel.

Markets are awaiting PPI data on Thursday and CPI data on Friday to determine the probability of a Federal Reserve rate hike at the September 15-16 meeting.
