U.S. President Trump Approves Firing Squad Execution for Fort Hood Shooter Nidal Hasan

U.S. President Donald Trump has approved the execution by firing squad of Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan for the 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas.

Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, killed 13 people and injured more than 30 after opening fire in a medical building with a laser-sighted handgun.

The U.S. military has not carried out a death penalty since 1961, and Hasan could potentially delay the procedure through a habeas corpus appeal.
