The Sports Ministry suspended the recognition of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) due to ongoing governance failures and disputes within the elected executive committee.
Expert consultant Vasanth Bharadwaj criticized the federation for diluting selection criteria, noting that the current 40:50:10 weightage system for rankings and domestic performance lacks a player-centric approach.
Bharadwaj emphasized that the federation has failed to utilize the expertise of coach Max Costantini and neglected the development of doubles events, which are critical for international success.
