Counting Begins for Bihar's Bankipur Assembly Bypoll

Vote counting for the Bankipur Assembly by-election in Patna commenced at 8 a.m. on August 3, 2026, following the seat's vacancy due to Nitin Nabin's resignation.

The bypoll, held on July 30, saw a voter turnout of 34.30%, which is over seven percentage points lower than the 41.45% recorded in the previous Assembly elections.

Debutant Prashant Kishor of the Jan Suraaj Party faces BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha and RJD nominee Rekha Gupta for the seat held by the BJP since 1995.
