UDISE+ Data Reveals Severe Shortage of Accessible Toilets for Disabled Students in India

Ministry of Education UDISE+ 2025–26 data showed that 9,08,529 schools across India lack a functional toilet for children with special needs.

While 95.8% of general girls' toilets are functional, only 38.1% of schools have a working toilet intended for children with disabilities.

State-level coverage varied widely, with Delhi recording 100% functionality while states like Meghalaya reported figures below 10%.
