The US State Department approved a $2.1 billion sale of up to 500 advanced Patriot air defence missiles to Ukraine, financed by Canada, Germany, Norway, and EU funds.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the decision on Friday but raised concerns that deliveries may take years to arrive amid ongoing Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.
The order will be funded through the JUMPSTART programme and European Union support loans, with the State Department confirming that no US funds are involved.
