The US Department of Labour suspended Cognizant, Infosys, Tata, Wipro, HCL, Capgemini, Microsoft, and Adobe from the Permanent Labour Certification Programme on Thursday.
Labour Secretary Keith Sonderling announced the suspension alongside Vice-President J.D. Vance, halting new and pending permanent labour certification applications involving these companies.
Sonderling stated that the affected firms had requested nearly three million foreign workers, received over 230,000 H-1B approvals, and secured more than 100,000 permanent labour certifications since 2009.
