France deploys 70,000 security personnel ahead of third weekend of protests

France prepared for a third consecutive weekend of protests over living costs and education by deploying 70,000 police and gendarmes on Saturday.

Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez warned of a very high risk of disorder, particularly after dark on Halloween, following previous rioting and looting.

Paris police banned central marches and restricted demonstrations to outer boulevards, while youth-led rallies also spread to Germany, Spain and other European nations.
