Karthik Subbaraj's 'Dorothy' Receives Standing Ovation at TIFF Premiere

Tamil-language drama 'Dorothy', directed by Karthik Subbaraj and starring Keerthy Suresh, received a standing ovation during its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival 2026.

The screening marks the first time in over a decade that a Tamil feature film has premiered in an official section at TIFF.

Set in early 1990s rural Tamil Nadu, the film explores themes of caste, prejudice, and human connection, featuring an original score by composer Ilaiyaraaja ahead of its September 25 theatrical release.
