Denmark Inaugurates EU's First Full-Scale North Sea CO2 Storage Facility

Energy group INEOS launched the Greensand carbon capture and storage project in the North Sea on Friday, establishing the European Union's first full-scale CO2 storage site and value chain.

Located 200 kilometres off the Danish coast beneath the Nini West platform, the project aims to store 400,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually in its initial phase.

INEOS plans to scale up operations to inject between four and eight million tonnes annually by 2030, contributing to the EU's legally binding target of 50 million tonnes.
