All Hawaii public schools, state courts, and county offices were closed on Monday, 17 August 2026, following severe storm impacts from Hurricane Lala.
While most facilities are expected to reopen, Nāʻālehu Elementary School on Hawaiʻi Island will remain closed to students and staff through Thursday, 20 August, due to road damage.
Non-essential state and county employees affected by the closures have been granted administrative leave, while critical public safety operations remain active across the islands.
