Professor Sankar Prasad Rath of the Department of Chemistry at IIT Kanpur has been named a recipient of the National Teachers Award 2026.
Associated with the institute since 2004, Professor Rath has authored over 165 peer-reviewed research papers and mentored numerous doctoral and master's students.
In interviews following the announcement, he emphasized that foundational conceptual understanding remains vital despite the growing presence of artificial intelligence in education.
