BPL Franchises Support One-Year Hiatus for League Reforms

Bangladesh Premier League franchises agreed on August 29 to a potential one-year hiatus to allow the Bangladesh Cricket Board to implement structural reforms and a sustainable financial model.

Franchise owners, including those from Rangpur Riders and Rajshahi Warriors, requested a five-year calendar from the board to better compete for top international players in a crowded T20 market.

The discussions follow concerns over long-standing payment issues, with Rangpur Riders CEO Ishtiaque Sadeque noting that some players remain unpaid seven months after the conclusion of the previous season.
