Oberlin High School canceled its 2026 football season two weeks before the first game after failing to meet the minimum roster requirement of 17 players.
Athletic Director Julian Acosta-Gorman reported that mandatory camp attendance dropped to as few as five students, making it impossible to field a safe varsity team.
The district is now working with the Ohio High School Athletic Association to help current players find opportunities at neighboring schools, while the marching band continues its season.
