A drone strike struck a data centre operated by Russian technology and AI company Yandex in Sasovo, marking the first major attack on a Russian data hub during the Ukraine war.
The strike sparked a fire and forced a temporary shutdown of operations at the facility housing tens of thousands of servers and two Nvidia A100-backed supercomputers.
The incident caused technical disruptions across multiple online services in Russia, including Russian Railways, real estate aggregator Cian, and regional bus ticket sales.
