Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Announces ₹1,200 Crore Secretariat Complex

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced plans on September 3, 2026, to construct a new integrated Secretariat complex at an estimated cost of ₹1,200 crore.

The proposed facility will span 20 lakh sq. ft. and is designed to house the Legislative Assembly and government departments to meet administrative needs for the next 100 years.

The current Secretariat at Fort St. George, which has served as the administrative center since 1640, will be preserved as a heritage structure once the new complex is completed.
