
SBI Caps has been unable to finalise a loan deal of around ₹13,500 crore to fund the government takeover of Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase I after approaching multiple financial agencies.
Lenders have reportedly shown reluctance to provide the required loan at the low interest rates sought by the Telangana government without explicit central backing.
The funding deadlock has stalled progress on both the L&T buyout process and the proposed 122.9-km Phase II expansion estimated to cost ₹38,595 crore.
