Government Hikes Petrol Export Levy and Lowers Diesel Duty

The central government hiked the export levy on petrol to ₹2.5 per litre from ₹0.5 per litre in its latest fortnightly review effective October 16.

The export levy on diesel was lowered to ₹8.5 per litre from ₹16 per litre, while the duty on aviation turbine fuel remained unchanged at ₹10.5 per litre.

Domestic retail fuel duties remain unchanged under the fortnightly reviews conducted since March 27 to disincentivise exports amid West Asia conflict benchmarks.
