A UN report released on Tuesday revealed that current national climate pledges will reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by only 6% below 2019 levels by the year 2035.
The UNFCCC 2026 NDC Synthesis Report noted that even with full implementation of conditional pledges, emissions would drop by a maximum of 9% by 2035.
The findings indicate that global temperature rise will likely reach between 1.7°C and 2.3°C by the end of the century unless substantial additional emission cuts are made.
