Actor Sayani Gupta's directorial debut film, Aasmani, has been cleared of copyright infringement allegations by the Screenwriters Association's Dispute Settlement Committee.
The DSC found that the disputed works only shared an underlying idea, while their storytelling, character development, conflict, and story arcs differed significantly.
The complainant had previously approached the association and circulated a support statement, prompting Gupta to file a separate defamation suit seeking ₹9 crores in damages.
