Floodwaters entered several villages in Saran, Gopalganj, and Muzaffarpur on October 1, 2026, following fresh breaches in embankments along the Gandak River.
The Gandak River stayed about 22 cm above the Highest Flood Level at Dumaria Ghat for nearly 36 hours due to heavy rainfall in Nepal and Uttar Pradesh.
Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary stated that 14 NDRF teams and an Air Force helicopter were deployed for relief operations, while the next 48 hours remain crucial.
