U.S. Supreme Court Allows Quick Third-Country Deportations

The U.S. Supreme Court permitted the Trump administration to resume deporting migrants to third countries while considering the policy's legality, setting arguments for December.

The apparent 6-3 order halts a lower appeals court ruling that had found migrants must have a meaningful chance to object before being sent to countries with no ties.

Under secret agreements, the administration has deported some 25,000 people to more than two dozen countries, including Liberia and Guyana, though critics warn of severe safety risks.
