Jharkhand Students Clash With Police During Effigy Burning Protests

Protesters clashed with police in Ranchi, Hazaribag, and Giridih on August 21, 2026, while attempting to burn effigies of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

The 'JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch' led the demonstrations to protest the Jharkhand High Court's stay order on notifications that had cancelled appointments from the 11th and 13th JPSC and JSSC-CGL exams.

JMM workers confronted the student agitators at Albert Ekka Chowk in Ranchi, where officials reported that police intervened to control the large gathering of demonstrators.
