Karnataka Suspends Food Licences of Amazon, Swiggy, BigBasket

The Karnataka Food and Drug Administration has suspended the food licences of major e-commerce platforms including Amazon, Swiggy Instamart, and BigBasket.

The action follows reports that these platforms were facilitating the online sale of 'Datura' seeds, a toxic plant, violating food safety and public health regulations.

The state authorities have ordered an immediate halt to the sale of such hazardous products, with further investigations into the platforms' compliance protocols currently underway.
