India to face aging population as fertility falls below replacement: Moody's

Moody's Ratings reported that India's fertility has fallen below replacement level, shifting its age structure toward an older population later this century.

Global fertility has declined from 4.9 children per woman in 1950 to about 2.2 currently, with over 70% of the world's population living in countries at or below replacement level.

Declining fertility and fewer workers will restrict productive capacity, requiring nations to depend increasingly on productivity to sustain economic growth.
