The Gujarat assembly passed its UCC bill on March 24, 2026, while Assam and Madhya Pradesh passed their respective versions on May 27 and July 21.
NDA allies including the Janata Dal United, Telugu Desam Party, and Lok Janshakti Party have expressed caution or reservations regarding the UCC plan.
