Dayanidhi Maran Urges Centre to Review Animal Rules

DMK Lok Sabha member Dayanidhi Maran wrote to Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh to review the draft Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Rules, 2026.

Maran expressed concern that allowing institutional ethics committees to approve experiments on larger animals weakens regulatory oversight.

He urged the Centre to withdraw the draft rules and undertake a comprehensive review with independent experts and scientists.
