Blood tests revealed severe anaemia in one and mild anaemia in two of five rescued baby orangutans housed at Odisha's Nandankanan Zoological Park during a health assessment.

A technical committee examined the animals on Wednesday, taking X-rays of their chests, skulls, and abdomens while collecting blood, serum, and nasopharyngeal samples.

Officials stated that the animals are currently stable with normal feed acceptance, and blood samples will soon undergo DNA testing to trace their origin.
