Supreme Court Retains Satya Niketan Building Collapse Case in Delhi HC

The Supreme Court on September 10, 2026, declined to transfer the Satya Niketan building collapse proceedings from the Delhi High Court, requesting the latter to monitor the case at short intervals.

Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and R. Mahadevan flagged severe overcrowding and safety violations in Delhi's paying guest facilities, noting that some premises pack 100 students into a single room.

The Bench scheduled the next hearing for September 15 to review compliance affidavits from civic authorities regarding the demolition of unauthorized structures and safety inspections of PG accommodations.
