Thane Police and Uttar Pradesh police arrested three men, including a tenant of the victim, for the murder of 45-year-old hardware trader Vinod Gupta in Tronica City.
Police said the prime suspect lost ₹55 lakh in the share market and ₹2 lakh in betting, and killed Gupta after facing intense pressure to clear outstanding balance payments for a plot.
The prime suspect sustained a bullet injury to his leg in retaliatory firing after opening fire at police during a crackdown late Tuesday night.
