Riot police clash with students during school protests in France

Riot police clashed with protesters as student demonstrations over education standards disrupted more than 700 schools across France on Friday.

Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez reported 1,747 arrests as protests involving staff shortages and budget cuts escalated into urban violence.

At least 65 staff members were injured, and a 17-year-old was arrested in Belfort on suspicion of attempted homicide following an attack on a police officer.
