The Indian rupee appreciated 19 paise to close provisionally at 95.17 against the US dollar on Wednesday, marking its fourth consecutive session of gains.
The appreciation was supported by Reserve Bank of India interventions to curb speculative forex exposure and ease near-term dollar demand, alongside a weak dollar and lower US Treasury yields.
Government data released on Wednesday showed India's wholesale price-based inflation rose to 11.39 percent in September compared to 9.92 percent in August.
