The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) suspended toll collection on the Rs 4,200-crore Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway just 13 days after its inauguration.
The decision follows a 300-metre slippage and structural damage reported on the newly opened highway, raising concerns over construction quality.
NHAI has barred the contractor from future bids and ordered immediate repairs to fix the defects before the expressway can be reopened to traffic.
